The Tony Buzan Licensed Instructor Certificate prepares students to become professional instructors. To achieve this, students will be taught aspects of speed-reading that are aimed to prepare the student for training. Many of these extra sessions are not taught to students but are aimed to ensure the knowledge of the future trainer is extensive.
The course gives them extended knowledge to teach speed-reading at a high level.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Students will understand the importance of why we wish to read faster.
- The basics of speed reading will be explained. This is necessary as many speed reading courses offer, unrealistic expectations.
- Students will learn the basic skills of speed reading, and will learn the most important technique to increasing reading speed.
- Calculating your reading speed in words per minute, and also calculating comprehension will be taught.
- Comparing your speed reading speed with high-speed readers.
- The aggregation of marginal gains. This is an important section in the course, which helps students understand that gains are not made immediately, but happen over a period of time.
- When teaching speed reading, it is useful to understand why people avoid reading. This section covers the main reasons people do not read, which will help them overcome these problems.
- Motivation is a big problem when learning to speed read. The ability to speed read does not come immediately, and therefore motivation for persisting long enough to see significant gains is a problem. This section covers various motivational techniques to ensure that students achieve the highest degree of success.
- The most common belief when talking about speed reading, is that comprehension decreases. We look at this subject in great detail, showing how comprehension can actually increase as your reading speed increases.
- Understanding the seven step definition of reading.
- Students will understand how to practice speed reading in order to achieve a higher reading speed. This regime of practice usually leads to an increase in reading speed by threefold.
- Understanding how to control your eye movements and using your peripheral vision helps make speed reading, much easier to master. These skills are taught in the practitioner course.
- Students will learn how to appreciate the concept of Sub vocalisation. This is another technique that will help improve speed reading.
- Using a guide in speed, reading is essential. The different guiding techniques will be taught.
- Further to the basic speed, reading techniques, the practitioner course will take this further and look at more advanced speed reading techniques.
- Learning to understand and read paragraph structures.
- You will understand the method of meta guiding.
- Relativistic reading teaches us how to understand relativistic and how this relates to speed reading.
- An important learning outcome is the learning how to maintain eye health and techniques for resting your eyes.
- Most reading is now undertaken by reading a computer screen or tablet. There are issues that result from reading from screens for a long period of time. Students are advised of the quick and easy techniques that can make reading from screens. Much easier.
- Understanding the importance of varying your focus regularly. Students are also taught about lighting, colour, and type faces.
- Together, with mind, mapping, speed-reading, will help you summarise text, such as a book.
- Students will learn the basics of maintaining eye health, with regards to speed reading, especially the benefits of resting the eyes.
